M1D Green Debut Shirt now available at the online store for $25.   $5 from each shirt sold will be contributed to the M1D Green fund with the option to add an additional $5 to the fund.  Wear the shirt, tell everyone who asks about it about M1D Green and what we are trying to do.  We can solve global warming and solve the energy problem at the same time!
The M1D® Green fund  has has been created to encourage and support the development of technologies and services that result in a reduction or the elimination of greenhouse gasses.  We have searched for companies / institutions whose work will lead to a practical renewable energy source without consuming agricultural land in the process.

We believe that the most promising fuel source in the near term is bio fuel created from Algae.  We will be sending 75% of the proceeds from the fund to Valcent Products to support their research into low cost mass production of Algae for bio fuels.  25% of the funds from M1D® Green will go towards REV Houston. REV is an electric car taxi service based in Downtown Houston.

We are introducing a new line of shirts called M1D® Green in early June 2008. These shirts will retail for $25 with $5 from each sale going into the fund.  Also any M1D® product sold will result in $1 being added to the fund. 

We are challenging the US to become Green, and energy independent by 2015.  We can work to save the earth from the effects of Global Warming while also strengthening the economy.

Algae are among the fastest growing plants in the world, and about 50 percent of their weight is oil. That oil can be used to make biodiesel for cars, trucks, and airplanes.   The type of fuel produced is a result of different strains of algae and different end processing.

Valcent introduces new method of algae farming.  They are developing  a closed, vertical system, growing the algae in long rows of moving plastic bags. The patented system is called Vertigro, a joint venture with Canadian alternative energy company Global Green Solutions.

The companies have invested about $10 million in an Anthony Texas  facility.  The exciting potential of Algae as a fuel is the efficiency.  It is possible to produce up to 100,000 gallons of algae oil a year per acre, compared to about 30 gallons per acre from corn; 50 gallons from soybeans.

REV provides green transportation in Downtown and Midtown Houston.  Their goal is to provide affordable and convenient urban transportation via all electric/zero emission vehicles. 

Their service allows more people to live without the need to own a car in a city designed around the car.  M1D® Green will support the operation and expansion of REV.
